Who are We?

We are the Stanwood Family!

I am Jacque - the woman of the family.  I play the wife, mom, teacher, housekeeper, chef, and I'm sure there are a few more, for the family.  I am a 30ish year old Southern at heart New Hampshire resident.  I love, love, love that I am blessed with being able to stay home with my 2 youngest sons.  My goal at this point in my life is to provide my children with the most positive, loving atmosphere possible.  That's why I wake up in the morning - to care for them - they are my world.

Next is the man of the family - Danny.  He plays the husband, dad, hard worker, mr. fix-it, etc for the family.  He is a pure 100% Northerner!  He is an awesome dad and does a great job at providing for his family.  He is actually the one who suggested that our children be homeschooled and encouraged me to become a stay-at-home mom.  An interesting tidbit for those of you that don't know him:  he LOVES to sleep - and does not give up even 5 minutes of his sleep time for ANYTHING.

Now for the fun people:
Rob(Robert) is almost 12 yrs old.  He lives in Arkansas with his dad, where he excels in just about everything he does.  He's a brilliant student and star football and basketball player. He is the most well behaved pre-teen I know.  His dad has done a wonderful job guiding him toward being a nice, hard working, caring, and respectable young man.

D3 is lil' Danny.  He is a wonderful, simple almost 3 yr old.  He is a lot like his dad.  He's very cranky when he wakes up until he has his strawberry milk.  He is almost always happy after he's had time to wake up though.  He is a great big brother and is very good with having to share all his 'stuff' with the children I provide childcare for.

Last, but not least is TT(Kingston).  TT is because that is what his brother calls him and it has kinda stuck.  He is just a joy to be around all the time.  He wakes up happy and goes to bed happy.  The interesting tidbit I want to share about him is:  he is almost 1 1/2 and he is still scooting around on his butt... has never crawled on his knees... but loves to 'cruise' around and walk as long as he's got something to hold onto.

Now that you know the players in our little show - I'll tell you a little about how we do things.  I try really hard to follow what I've learned in my research about Attachment Parenting.  I do co-sleep with my boys.  I do practice positive discipline.  I am always looking for more knowledge when it comes to parenting, I feel like it is an ever-changing process as the family grows and changes.  My husband works 3rd shift so he sleeps during many of our exciting days.  His schedule is to work 4 on then 4 off - so on his days off we do get to spend quite a bit of time with him.  He is very dedicated to his job and has been there for almost 10 years.  He is also a great dad - he loves to do the 'guy' stuff with them.  You know - the rough-housing, pulling them around on the lawn mower, digging in the dirt - all that exciting stuff!

I have a home daycare that lets me do my part for our family finances.  I love my job.  Right now we have one full-time little guy that is only a few months younger than D3 and also a part timer that comes 2 days a week that is not quite 6 months yet.  Knowing that I am going to homeschool the boys has encouraged me start looking into 'educational' things for them now.  That is how I found Confessions of a Homeschooler which then led me to this exciting thing called Tot School.  So now I try to fill at least a couple hours of our morning with at least purposeful play if nothing else.  I love getting new ideas from other parents that are home preschooling their children.

As far as our family, in general, we are just laid back.  We just kinda go with the flow of the day.  We are very flexible in our routine, activities, anything that happens.  There is one constant in our house - and that is that there is usually something sports related on a tv somewhere in the house.  We are huge NASCAR, NBA, MLB, and NFL fans.  For the most part my husband I like the same teams.  For racing we love Kasey Kahne, for baseball we like the Boston Red Sox, for basketball we love the Boston Celtics, and for football he likes the New England Patriots and I like them a little but always root for my hometown team - the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ok - so that's pretty much us in a nutshell - the laid-back sports lovin' family!  Please take your time and look around and I hope you enjoy spending time with my family like I do!  :)
